Love Songs

Someone reminded me this morning about Love Songs...the kind that celebrate and define my life! The kind I make memories to. Connected to a time and space in my life. When I hear each song, I think of you.....

Because sometimes I am a lion, roaring...

Sometimes, life sucker punches me and I'm floating...

and sometimes, I'm driving thru the mountains listening to a song about the same mountains and God shows himself to me. I feel the light of the Spirit of the Universe around me and in me, a great love swells and tears fall for the happiness inside of my heart...

Every time I hear this song, I am taken right back to the moment that God's light gave me clarity and purpose. My life changed. I made friends who I could love with all of my heart and , woah, some of them love me right back! Thank you, Ik, for all of your love! You are a great friend!

oh, love!

Music is an integral part of my day, everyday. Sometimes, I am listening, sometimes I am playing. Mostly, I am constantly enthralled by something different! It is my luck that my attention span doesn't last for long, so I am on a constant search for another melody to catch my drift....

My favorite thing to listen to right now, I cannot share with you. Instead, here's a little I can share...

Incline District

The greatest band, the nicest fellas...playing at Mainstay Saturday night. I'm gonna sing a song of theirs with them. I do feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

Pomegranates

always have been (well, since 2008), always will be my favorite! I love POMS!

The Kickaways

with video by Justin Warrick...best rock n roll, i can't tell you, you just have to feel it. i wanna listen to this fast and loud in a muscle car with a primer paint job..

Luke 6:37, "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." (NIV)

becoming a mermaid

The shooting pains had started in her hips, like joints too close to a fire. A pull, tight pressure, crackling inside like kindling, she thought about aging and wondered if this was it. Traveling downwards, pain gripped her kneecaps, tightening the skin, walking had become troublesome. When it hit her calves, she was no longer upright, but writhing on the floor, twisting, contorting, squeezing out salty tears thru hard shut tight eyes. "Why did I spend my life standing on my feet?" Thoughts raced. Arthritis, osteoporosis, debilitating, life threatening disease attacking muscle. "What was the name of that disease?" Words stuck, clung in her throat and panic took up a residency in her head. Her mother's words came back to her. A swim meet and a pulled muscle. Epsom salts. a hot bath.

Dragging herself into the bathroom, pulling herself up onto the side of the tub, she flipped on the hot water. Spying "invigorating bath salts" resting on the side, she poured them in and hoisted herself up, swinging her legs over the side and into the warm water. Feeling proud of being so self sufficient in this moment of panic, she applauded herself quietly and looked down at her aching legs.

"Why do my legs look so dirty?" Reaching for a bath sponge, she ran a hand down her left leg, the skin had turned rough to her touch and felt scaly. Filling the sponge with moisturizing body wash, she ran it over her thigh. "that's weird, my thighs look huge..." Lifting her foot out of the water felt heavy. "Wait, why do my thighs look like one thigh?" The skin on both upper legs had grown over the other, a greenish hue was growing and she could make out large semicircles of flesh raising before her eyes. The shock of it made the pain secondary. Mind racing, skin stretching, morphing into scales. Both legs were quickly becoming one. Trying to pry them apart, hands fumbling and scratching, screaming came to mind, but no sound came out!

A two foot tail fin had sprouted where her feet had been! The beauty of it, a different green, like pthalo dancing with moss, took her breath and she slipped under the water. Instant calm enveloped her, opening her eyes, she was breathing. No panic, the pain had subsided. The water felt natural as if she'd lived in it her whole life.

What a little Moonlight can dooooooo...

"What to do...

the outlook was decidedly blue...

...it turned out to be the luckiest day I know...."

Instead of consuming my head with why me's and what if's, I have to look for the gift in every "bad" thing that happens. Today, with a sizable brace on my petite leg, I am looking for the benefits of an injury. First, it's not life threatening, like, I'm not gonna die from it. Second, I can still sew. Third, I have a good doc working with me and I am following his orders.

Bigger than all three, I have the Great Physician, the Universal Dr. Love, planning all of these things for me, my whole life, every second. So, there is a reason for every thing that ever happens to me. Even when the reason isn't crystal clear to me, He knows. Because I Trust and Rely on God, not on my own self centered fear, I know every little thing is gonna be alright....

Crafty Supermarket SpringShow 2011

It feels like I have been waiting my whole life for the Crafty Supermarket Spring Show!

I brought home just a few of my favorite things from the market, I had a $60 budget for the day, so I didn't buy everything I wanted, but I have a new wishlist that just keeps on growing..I am making a Treasury on Etsy of all of them! Check back here for the link...it's hard enough for me to make this post! ha! I learn new things everyday..
Emily Louise Howard does woodcut prints..
I fell in love with many things at the Diggingest Girl, but I couldn't go home without this print..
My favorite booth belonged to Laura Berger, who also happened to be one of the nicest people we talked to all day! Her prints are fantastic! The colors are pleasing, her art is so pretty! Her paintings are on my wish list!
I bought a Mother's Day card from Laura...
Hannah got finger puppets from Wholly Craft and a sweet hat made from the kind folks at DIY Printing...they had an awesome demo right inside the front doors!
I bought some sweet stuff at Wholly Craft from Columbus!
My favorite shirt ever! from Intl. Robot! It was hard to pick just one! I love the designs! and sorry about the folding...and unfolding...
Morninglori curiosities! Paper pulp clay at it's finest!
Couldn't wait to see these little fellas up close!
The DJ played killer tunes! I wish I would have taken pics of the speakers Nick loved so much..
abbydid
redravenstudios
Courtney Fischer Jewelry from Royal Oak, MI
Nick Hill and Adam Lawrence looking dapper in their cardis..
So, there were a few pictures I forgot to take...I love these, too, so I am adding some links for you to check out! Like awesome hand grenade soap at Stinky Bomb Soap, on my shopping list for every single person I know! mywireempire had really cool prints! Rough and Perfect had cool displays. ScreenQueen had dead rats and skulls everywhere! (so you know, I love rats and skulls...)
All in all, an impressive display of fine craftsmanship! Even I, not a jewelry gal, loved the jewelry booths. The Lovely Teaspoon, especially. Conduit Press had books with the insides carved out to carry your "necessities". They even had some "pocketbooks"! The booth I went back to over and over and didn't purchase from ( I ran out of money..) was Off the Beaten Path.
I loved their bags and the Ferris Wheel display! The Owl bag is definitely on my wish list...and I have to mention the birds, robots and cupcakes at Paper Acorn. So cute!
Ok, one last mention for me and that is the amazing cup o' joe from La Terza Artisan Coffee Roasterie. Before I even knew it, I had downed that cup. Well-balanced, just the way I like it!
Thanks to Adam L. for carrying stuff and good company. As usual.
Now, go see this goody goodness for yourself!
Support local art- buy something!
Better yet, make something!

May the Force be with you

A swarm of emotion, marching, raindrops catching tears.
A solo heartbreak echoed a hundred times over.
A voice with drums and horns dances across the wind,
outbursts for the gone, but not forgotten.
We weep openly.
A great love fills the air,
each surrounded, enveloped by something greater
than any of us.
Combined, we are a force to be reckoned with.
Alone, He is a force all his own.

What Love Looks Like...

When a heart swells with love, with crazy abandon...
unconditional and true,
poems are written,
songs are sung,
music carries the tune,
a brush stroke screams it,
a pedal pushes it,
driving us through this life with joy and honest happiness.
Nothing can replace it,
bank account balances can't touch it,
new car smell doesn't do it,
there is nothing like love.
Spread it, embrace it, hold it, let it go....
