If it looks like fun, it is!

Arnold's Bar & Grill hosted Local Local Local on Saturday night and what happened is....
 Jake Speed played!
 Daniel Martin Moore joined in!
If it looks fun, that's because it is!
 Cold, Cold Heart

please play while you read...you may feel like I did last night...so incredibly happy!
 These are my friends Adam Lawrence, Lisa Witte and the fabulous Sarah St. Cyr.

This is Michael Boyd, head behind the watercolors.
Having never seen his work in person, only in pictures, I brought some extra cash. I knew I would go home with something from him. His lovely pieces are eye catching! You can visit his Etsy shop by clicking the link above.

Look at the loveliest frame! There are two that match! I did not get these, so as of right now, they are still up for grabs. I may change my mind though, so you better go get them if you want them.

Fantastic! little sea creatures!
I did, however, get one of each of these for my new kitchen remodel!

This is Hilary. I met her at a craft show a while back. She may be the nicest person I have ever met. Also, she makes terrariums!
I never even knew I wanted a terrarium until I saw Hilary's!!
I now have one with a tiny Unicorn inside! ah! yes, a tennsy, tinsy Unicorn! You guys know how much I love unicorns, right?! And Hilary loves the Last Unicorn, too!
I know you may be thinking that you want to be besties with Hilary, but I found her first. I bet she will be your friend, too.

It is very difficult to take a picture of a terrarium and convey just how cute they really are! When you see one up close, you will automatically want one. I think they call that the "power of terrariums" though that isn't an official quote.

I love Hilary's display! Don't these just make you feel peaceful....

This is my Unicorn <3 I bet she would make you one, but you can't have mine.

You can check out Hilary's Etsy shop, too...

Robot Inside
The Owls had such a good time! It took a bit for them to get settled down. They kept talking about Daniel Martin Moore. The Owls are crazy for him. Crazy, fun Owls.

The Monsters, on the other hand, have it bad for Jake Speed.

and the Little Hearts just had Love for everyone!

Don't forget- you can learn to make Little Hearts with me on February 6th at the Blue Ash Library!

I did not mean to forget Libre Design- they make great posters. But, alas, I did not take pictures of them.
I really love their Deerhoof poster...I will find a link and put it here.
 Here's what I love about Arnold's...
everyone is so nice! EVERYONE! The people who make it Arnold's, the workers, the owners, the manager, Chris, is super great! Then, let's talk about the music- fabulous, always! the stage is so cool and there is always some one playing something that makes me feel good! No wonder the staff seems happy! The patrons of Arnold's somehow just seem friendlier than anywhere else in the city! It just seems like everyone we talked to had such a genuine smile and the conversations were awesome! Sarah and I met a gal named Trudy who was new to the city and she was so great!
I got up this morning feeling really good about last night.
I am looking forward to future collaborations with Chris and Arnold's. Look for ROBOT Inside to make a grand comeback there...
we are talking Ferris Wheel great here!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Edgar!

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.
Edgar Allan Poe

Probably my favorite songwriter, I'd like to think Josh Ritter is inspired by EAP.

A dreamer, a poet, a mystery...Edgar Allan Poe dug into my heart as a youngster and burrowed himself
a special place in my heart. My house is adorned with Ravens and spotting them is a favorite past time
of mine. Although he passed in 1849, every time we hear the words, we remember him.
Thank you, BR, for the reminder and a constant love for the very best words!

My Entryway Makeover

I got really exhausted looking at our front entryway...

 Today, I decided to do something about it.
 We had this board full of old school hooks on our back deck for beach towels, but they just hang on it and get all smelly.
 Naturally, I decided to repurpose it.
 See, we had a coat tree here, but it buckled under the weight of winter coats. Besides, where to put the mittens?
 So, as soon as the last kid was put onto the bus, I got out the drill/screwdriver that I charged last night. Yes, I have been thinking about this for awhile.
 I have all of my own tools now. MDH got tired of me using his, so I  he gave me my own set of hand me downs. I have my own screws, anchors, nails, hammer, even some power tools. I have my own level (it's big) and I am pretty handy.
 Now, everyone has a hook for their coat, backpack and a space for their shoes. There's a basket for winter things.
 I love my dining room!
 There's my vintage industrial Singer, a sweet vintage vinyl chair I have had for many years. I got it in a thrift store in Toledo for $5. They actually had a furniture room where everything was $20 or less. I miss that store.

I love our home!
Now, if you could only see the other side of the room....
I better clean this mess up!
Hope your day is super awesome!

As some of you may know, I am teaching a Kitschy Craft class at the Blue Ash Library.
I live in Blue Ash. I am, surprisingly, not feeling uber nervous about it. Maybe it's because I made a dozen of the Little Hearts we are going to make then hung them on a tree branch I spray painted blue. My favorite shade of blue, I might add. Maybe it's because it is still 2 1/2 weeks away. Maybe it's because I know it's going to be fun and there are 9 people coming so far that aren't necessarily from Blue Ash. Once I am in the room, it may change.

I love these Little Hearts!

I love holding a needle and embroidery floss in my hands, I love wrapping it around my fingers with a secret tug and loop, my secret handshake that makes blanket stitches...I love spray paint and coating something to make it new, different, what I have in my head now sits in front of me.
 I made a diaper bag for my friend's niece. She picked out the Owls (Robert Kaufman fabric) and I set out on a mission.
 The inside has a pillow, changing pad and extra bag that I like to believe is like a purse when you don't want to carry a purse.
 Babies require so much! You have to carry every need with you. I like this moment when I can just grab both kids and go! I do have about 2 dozen different bags I carry with me at all times with snacks and water and of course, Diet Coke. But we don't have to have everything with us all the time anymore. A few years back, we also had to pack DS, games and charger, but the kids have kind of lost some interest in that, thank goodness. I was counting up the electrical devices that suck our time last night and each member of my family has at least two, not including the Ipad that everyone fights for....

Do you ever think it's weird, the way we stick our faces in a time sucker?
I think the colors turned out nicely together! I hope she likes it!
I met a gal who sings with a voice that reminds me of listening to Emmy Lou Harris in my car, not so much that she sounds just like her, but more that feeling I get when I'm driving and Lucinda Williams is singing about car wheels on a gravel road. A place where the voice melts into my ears, like chocolate in a double boiler. The perfect temperature, tiny bubbles dancing. I made this bag for her. It feels like her.
Her band is called Sassy Molasses. She plays a mandolin, among many things. I think you would really like her....
